Title:
Network Manager Applet during 8.10 Upgrade
Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
This error pop up comes during upgrade (update-manager -d) from
Xubuntu 8.04 (to 8.10).
"The NetworkManager applet could not find some required resources. It
cannot continue".
This message is generated every few minute (and it stacks on top of
itself, which makes it double anoying). But it does seemingly not
affect or disturb my upgrade -process.
I figure this is because the upgrade process messes things up for my
already running NetworkManager applet.
I found a message in /var/log/daemon.log:
"Oct 11 01:55:21 DarthVader NetworkManager: <debug> [1223682921.430042]
nm_hal_device_added(): New device added (hal udi is
'/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/platform_parport_pc_632')
Important note: I've manually compiled and installed wireless driver
(madwifi-hal) according to this thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=943189.
The hardware is: Acer Aspire One (mini notebook)
