Olivier Godart, thank you for apport-collect'ing and installing the libreoffice package.
Regarding your comment https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1034370/comments/6 : >"Ok, I installed libreoffice-pdfimport and now when I insert a pdf file, it >inserts a frame with the pdf content. That's good,..." Your original issue was due to you not having libreoffice-pdfimport installed. The LibreOffice debugging article https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LibreOfficeBugWrangling has been updated to help prevent this. >"...but it's still not possible to insert a clickable icon instead of the actual document." As per http://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Insert_OLE_Object you will not be able to have a clickable icon, other than the actual document embedded as an object, as you saw. >"If for example I would like to insert a zip file instead, I just can't." This desire to be able to embed any file extension type seems to be a Won't Fix Wishlist as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LibreOfficeBugWrangling#Wishlist_Reports . With this in mind, if you want to see in LibreOffice both a clickable object, and desire to embed any file extension type, this should be split up into two different bug reports. For more on this, please see the Ubuntu Bug Control and Ubuntu Bug Squad article: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices#X.2BAC8-Reporting.Focus_on_One_Issue and Ubuntu Community article: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_Reporting_Etiquette If this is the case, could you please file a new report by executing the following via a terminal, and subscribe me to it: ubuntu-bug libreoffice This new report would focus on inserting zip files specifically, while this report will remain focused on the clickable icon. Is this the case? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1034370 Title: Cannot embed a file as an ole object Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: When I try to embed a pdf file, as an embedded document in libreoffice writer, it tries to import the pdf file as a text file, instead of just displaying a pdf icon that I can click to open. To reproduce the bug, 1- start libreoffice writer 3 2- select from the menu "Insert>Object>OLE Object..." 3- select the "Create from file" radio button 4- click the "Search..." button 5- select any pdf or other non plaintext, non libreoffice compatible, or binary document 6- click the "OK" button Expected behaviour : an icon representing your document should be inserted. Clicking on the icon should open the document using the appropriate program. Observed behaviour : an "ASCII Filter Options" dialog is displayed. Clicking OK in that dialog will insert a frame containing the text from the pdf file (as if you just cat the pdf file). I am using Ubuntu linux v12.04 and libreoffice v3.5.4.2, but I think the bug has always existed, as I had the same problem before with openoffice. --- ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu12 Architecture: amd64 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release amd64 (20110427.1) Package: libreoffice 1:3.5.4-0ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-29.46-generic 3.2.24 Tags: precise running-unity Uname: Linux 3.2.0-29-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-04-30 (99 days ago) UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare vboxusers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1034370/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
