Thunderbird crashes right away

Bug description:
This started just today: Thunderbird crashes on start-up. Does not
display its interface. This persists even through a reboot. Worked
fine just earlier today.
I noticed that right before this crashing behavior, Thunderbird was
frozen, and had to be killed. From that moment on, every subsequent
Thunderbird launch has failed...
