Title:
Local Evolution users should be able to share data

Status in The Evolution Mail & Calendaring Tool:

Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: evolution

In Evolution, there is an "On this computer" type for all types of
data; calendars, mail folders, tasks, notes and contacts. It's quite
common for people to share the same computer, either physically, or
using a terminal server such as LTSP or NX. It should be easy to
enable users to share their data with other users via the filesystem.
At least in read-only mode. I'm not sure it would be a good idea to
let several users have write access at the same time, but even being
able to just view another users data would be of great value to lots
of users. If Mother just wants to see if Father has time to pickup
Child, it'd be overkill to invest in a MS Exchange server or something
  like that.

Solution, add a "Select calendar" button to the dialog that appears
when you create a new calendar "On this computer". The filesystem
permissions will decide if one can write to it or not. Shared data is
located in /home/evolution-share, for instance. It shouldn't be more
  complicated than that?
