Title:
precise 64bit firefox 11 with latest adobe flash has HUGE memory leak
Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
i know that adobe flash is kind of a dead technology but when i have 2
tabs open and gigabytes of RAM at hand and and still i manage to run
into OOM, so something is going wrong with flash i suppose.
so after my system became responsive again i listed the memory usage
via top and firefox takes 4.1g RES and 5645m VIRT memory and that only
with ONE youtube video open and loaded. the funny thing is that the
plugin-container process (firefox child process) only takes up 68m of
ram only. so why does flash eat the memory that belongs to firefox?
isn't the container process some kind of facility to handle the
plugin?
since i wasn't even watching the video the oom killer just terminated
another process and i still had the joy of inspecting the memory usage
at that high level.
so that's why i suppose there is a bug / memory leak somewhere.
