How to reproduce (I'm on Quantal):

This results in an arrow as big as the icon:
$ ln -s /usr/share/icons/Humanity/apps/32/bash.svg .
$ nautilus .

This results in no arrow at all:
$ ln -s /usr/share/icons/Humanity/apps/16/bash.svg .
$ nautilus .

Title:
  Softlink arrow icons too large on small images' thumbnails

Status in Nautilus:
  Incomplete
Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: nautilus

  For a soft link to a small image file, Nautilus will show the
  thumbnail of the image overlaid by a giant arrow indicating that it's
  a softlink. This makes it next to impossible to see the actual
  thumbnail. (See attached screenshot.)
