** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 947721 gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_tree_view_column_setup_sort_column_id_callback() -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/945993 Title: gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_tree_view_column_setup_sort_column_id_callback() Status in “gnome-panel” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Testing Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 on a VM (Virtualbox), I installed GNOME Shell (gnome-shell 3.2.2.1-0ubuntu1) from the Ubuntu Software Center. I then logged off and proceeded to test the Gnome Shell environment and, later, Gnome Classic. I eventually returned to Unity 3D and walked away from my computer for a few minutes. When I returned I found the following crash message: gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke() When I chose to relaunch gnome-panel, both CLASSIC gnome panels (top and bottom) were launched instead of just the top one from Unity. The top panel shows the classic menus (Applications, Places) and the bottom one has the 'show desktop' and 'change workspace' buttons, and open application windows minimise to it as expected. I still have a fully functional Unity launcher. gnome-panel shouldn't crash, and if it does, the proper gnome-panel should be relaunched i.e. the one that matches its "environment" (Unity, Gnome Shell, Gnome Classic, etc.) Ubuntu precise beta 1 gnome-panel 1:3.3.90-0ubuntu1 ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: gnome-panel 1:3.3.90-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-17.27-generic 3.2.6 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-17-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.94-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Mar 4 01:01:18 2012 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-panel InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Beta amd64 (20120301) ProcCmdline: gnome-panel ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SegvAnalysis: Segfault happened at: 0x7f6426b15c75: mov 0x78(%rax),%edx PC (0x7f6426b15c75) ok source "0x78(%rax)" (0xaaaaaaaaaaaaab22) not located in a known VMA region (needed readable region)! destination "%edx" ok SegvReason: reading unknown VMA Signal: 11 SourcePackage: gnome-panel StacktraceTop: ??
