upstream closed the bug with that comment
"We don't do the tree view in the list view anymore. Please file a new bug if
you see similar behavior with the standard list view. Thanks."
Does anyone still get the issue in quantal?

Title:
nautilus excessive cpu and delay opening directories
Status in Nautilus:
Expired
Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: nautilus
Today Nautilus takes up to several minutes to open -some- directories.
Didn't yesterday, on same directories.
Ubuntu 8.0.4, AMD64 -- updates current as of '09/04/21, 20:00 GMT -- Quad
core 2 GHz AMD 64 CPU, so nautilus is burning a LOT of cycles. Resource monitor
shows 100% on 1 CPU and 25 to 50% on a few others.
The problem is only semi-reproducible. Behavior looks normal, or anyway much
faster on some directories, and varies from slow to several minutes to open
some others. Does NOT seem consistent as to how long it will take.
New problem. Everything seemed fine yesterday, Directories opened
"instantly", in less than a second anyway.
If someone told me how to find or activate a log of what nautilus is
doing I'd try to collect data and pass it on.
