dash fails to recognize certain applications, and they cannot be
launched by either their program title or file name.

Bug description:
typing the name of an installed program into the dash text box fails
to bring up the program launcher, typing the full file name of the
program results in a empty dash that is unresponsive. Uninstalling and
reinstalling the applications did not help. So far the programs I have
found that elicit this behavior are file-roller (Archive Manager) and
gconf-editor (Configuration Editor). Neither the executable file name
or the application title will produce a launcher, the launchers also
cannot be found by searching through 'More Apps' -> 'Installed' ->
'see xx more results' which led me to believe that the desktop files
are missing, however they are present in the /usr/share/applications/
directory. The programs can be launched from the command line or
through the 'run' dialog(<alt><f2>).
