Title:
Unable to connect to wireless network after upgrade to Lucid beta:
both with WPA encryption and without encryption

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

I installed Lucid beta 1 on a HP 530 laptop (and have been updating
  ever since).

Since then, I have been unable to connect to my wireless network on
this machine. When the network is left unsecured, the connection gets
lost after about 30 seconds. If the network is secured (I have been
using WPA), I cannot connect at all.

I have two more Lucid machines in my office - which do not have a
problem connecting. Both are desktops with D-Link network cards (don't
know the exact chip inside). Prior to this, I have been running
Karmic. I had no trouble with the wireless network.

The pattern suggests that this is a kernel/driver issue, affecting
particular driver/wireless chipset combinations. However, as I cannot
be certain of that, I have left it to someone more informed than I am
to decide that that is indeed so.
