Hi there,

I got the same Problem with a second screen via a docking station.

But after deleting the nvidia driver, everything went to normal (except
the bad two screen expierience by the nuoveau driver)!

So until now I'm getting used to the 'maximizing break' until nvidia
making this bloody driver open source or just not so bad.

Title:
Maximize window freezes computer for about 10 seconds

Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “xchat-gnome” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
When using the terminal, if I try to maximize it's window using the
menus, the maximize button or any shortcut, my display freezes for
about 10 seconds (nothing responding, not even alt-tab, displaying the
  dash or anything... ).

After that, everything goes back to normal. If I type something in the
mean time, the terminal still grabs those keys.
