It is either with this particular PDF file or Google chrome's doc viewer is doing it the right way; other viewers aren't. Or it is the other way around. One of the online PDF viewer displayed it correctly. Given these observations, I cannot be sure if it is not an evince rendering problem at all or it is just this specific PDF file. Nevertheless, I agree that it won't be right to say the problem is with evince alone and marking this bug invalid now seems valid.
Thanks again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1045439 Title: Embedded links in some PDF files are enclosed in red boxes Status in “evince” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: For some of the PDF files, each and every embedded link is enclosed in a red box. For example, I can view this particular PDF http://www.gnupg.org/gph/en/manual.pdf in chrome browser properly but when I view it in evince, it renders every embedded link inside a red box which is quiet unpleasant to view. I tested the same PDF file with a new user and the same behavior persists. Most other PDF files are rendered properly though. 1) Ubuntu release: Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release: 12.04 2) Package version: Evince 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.3 3) Expected behavior: The document viewer should render the embedded links of PDF files without the enclosing red boxes. 4) Observed behavior: The document viewer renders all the embedded links of PDF files enclosed in red boxes. This, however, does not happen with other PDF files.
