I think these are the correct packages when the system froze completely while web browsing via firefox and using Document Viewer. The bug has significantly dropped off in occurances since initially filing this report and I've had a 'free run' without any system freezes for a while but it has just re-occurred this month (September). Still no ability to do a soft shutdown when the freeze occurs.

So the only option has been to use the power button to do a hard shut down each time. This has been happening when browsing websites (through Firefox) and viewing documents as well.(Also, the PC froze when runnung more than one application; i.e. Rhythmbox Music Player and another App). I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 as the sole OS. Any ideas on what causes this and what fixes are available? Would like to know what options there are for a 'softer' shutdown as well. Am I right in thinking the kernal isn't responding when trying keyboard commands?
