Works now after upgrade of gnome-session from 3.5.5-0ubuntu3 to
3.5.91-0ubuntu1. Marking as fixed.

Bug description:
User switching does not work with gdm on quantal, neither with gnome-
shell nor unity. Additionally, gnome-shell crashes and restarts when
attempting to switch users.
Switching on both gnome-shell and unity works with lightdm.
Expected behaviour: New login screen on next VT when selecting "Switch
user..." from the top right menu.
Observed behaviour: gnome-shell crashes and restarts without gdm
showing a new login screen.
