Title:
Ubuntu hangs when network-manager attempts to reconnect to a mobile
  network -- Huawei E169G

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

I am running ubuntu 8.10 and NM 0.7 on a Dell inspiron 6000 and I
connect to 3 UK mobile broadband with a external usb dongle Huawei
  E169G.

After a lost connection, when I try to reconnect Ubuntu hangs
completely. The keyboard and mouse become irresponsive and the only
solution is to reboot the machine.

Note that this result is not consistent but it happens approximately
one out of five reconnection attempts.
