it's not a bug, there is a setting to disable the touchpad while typing.
(though that doesn't seem to work in 12.04/12.10)

Title:
Laptop Trackpad Issue
Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: apport
Please help me provide more information around a trackpad issue:
Issue: Trackpad on laptop seems to stick for 0.2Msec after a key on
the keyboard is pressed.
Scenario: Pressing the letter "g"(or any key) if you move the mouse
around while pressing g, you will notice that the mouse sticks when
you press the key(I.E Mouse disappears off screen for a split second,
it is not that the mouse is only hidden as it is obvious the mouse did
not move at all in the period it was invisible), the mouse resumes
moving after 0.1~2 Msec after keypress, pressing the button again will
repeat the problem.
Note: Holding down the key will only make the mouse stick for the
initial press, if the mouse then becomes unstuck.
