Well sounds like many are experiencing this problem.
I also faced it once when I was actually working with it and preparing a
document. The menu options were greyed out after a while.
So I'm opening this bug again.
Hope that a real fix gets released.

Title:
Global Menu in LibreOffice
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
This is about LibreOffice Version 3.6.0.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:102)) in
Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal.
The Global Menu is visible for LibreOffice but it's too slow and not usable
(all options are disabled).
Also LibreOffice has it's menu available in its title bar. So there are two
menus showing when having a LibreOffice component open.
Sometimes the Global Menu jumps for another program or Ubuntu Desktop itself
while working in LibreOffice.
