Title:
Display lockup on resume from sleep

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
This bug is currently reported against unity but might really be compiz.
Hardware is Lenovo T400 running on Intel graphics chip.

On resume from sleep, I couldn't get back into my X session. I could see the
mouse against a black screen. This is a relatively uncommon intermittent
problem. Most resumes work OK.

I was able to switch to a VT. From there, I first killed gnome-
screensaver, but that didn't change things. Killing compiz allowed me
to see the background. Tried to restart compiz, then unity, but
neither helped. Running metacity --replace from a VT finally allowed
me to get back to my running apps.
