Title:
After dist-upgrade desktop takes very long to load panels on Xubuntu
  12.04

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hello,
lightdm causes some trouble after doing "apt-get dist-upgrade" to the newest
kernel "3.2.0-30.48-generic" on a fresh installed Xubuntu 12.04.1.

After the login screen and the login process you just see the wallpaper of
the workspace and the mouse. It takes very long time to load the panels (about
1min). In this time it seems like the PC is doing nothing at all.
Using no Nvidia driver makes no difference.

But using GDM fixes the problem as temporary workaround.

P.S.: I also sometimes have to wait a longer time before loading the
  lightdm login screen.

  System and Hardware:
  Ubuntu 12.04 (precise)
  Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz
  SanDisk SSD
  GeForce GTX 460
