Title:
rfe: .gvfs messes things up, please find a way not to use it
Status in “unity-greeter” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Hi,
in 12.04 server with xubuntu-desktop installed, a call to `df` as non-
superuser user leads off with:
df: `/var/lib/lightdm/.gvfs': Permission denied
.gvfs as not-a-regular-file is enough of a pain in the neck messing up all of
our automated rsync home directory backups, having it mess up `df` too
effectively means lightdm is not suitable for use on a server which has a
workstation frontend. And so we have to uninstall lightdm and use a less
troublesome alternative, which is unfortunate.
if there is any way to implement lightdm without .gvfs, please do it.
(enough already, it needs to die)
thanks a load,
Hamish
(slightly irked)
