What I expected to happen: Succcesful install of flashplugin What happened instead: A window pops up telling me "Failure to download extra data files". I can re-try the download. Flash plugin install is unsuccesfull. Solution: The problem lies in the file "/usr/share/package-data-downloads/flashplugin-installer", part of the flashplugin-downloader package. The line "Url: http://archive.canonical.com/pool/partner/a/adobe-flashplugin/adobe-flashplugin_11.2.202.233.orig.tar.gz"; should read "Url: http://archive.canonical.com/pool/partner/a/adobe-flashplugin/adobe-flashplugin_11.2.202.238.orig.tar.gz"; ie the last digit of the flash version number has been changed from '3' to '8'.
