Bug description:
  Just updated to the latest gdm/gnome-shell and now they both refuse to
  run. Had to switch back to lightdm/unity to even be able to log in.
  When I select 'gdm' in dpkg-reconfigure, then my box is unable to even
  display a login screen on boot. Utterly broken.
