AFAUCT this is the reason why Inkscape crashes: you have an outdated
unstable development version of cairo installed which is known to crash
when trying to print. This has been reported earlier for Inkscape, e.g.

Bug description:
Whatever the printer or the file, Inkscape give me the following message when
pressing on the print button:
"Inkscape a connu une erreur interne et va se fermer maintenant" and... Crash.
I don't know where I could find a crash log.
I m running on Ubuntu 10.04 kernel 2.6.32-43-generic
