if canonical is planning to make Ubuntu compete with Windows and Mac then they must think of using conventional UI for all the apps. Ctrl + Tab is used to switch tabs. if this very basic shortcut cannot be implemented, then forget about making Ubuntu one of the best OSes. If i'm not wrong empathy is developed using Python?? I don't do python, but i'm willing to learn if that's what it takes to fix this.
