This is also affecting me. I had been using Ubuntu 12.04 with a slightly older version of the nvidia driver downloaded from nvidias site. This past weekend, I installed a new SSD - and new Nvidia drivers 304.51 - and I'm just experienced it for the first time, and it's happened twice in the past 20 minutes now.
