im having a similar (but possibly unrelated) problem. im using ubuntu
12.04 and my touchpad works beautifully in firefox and chrome but in
nautilus the vert and horiz scrolling is wayyy too fast. it seems
somehow nautilus is getting touchpad settings from somewhere else other
than synclient or xorg.conf. does anyone know which scrolling speed in
nautilus is different to firefox and other apps?

Title:
Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus
Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus.
I can scroll up-down just on the right side, but not in the center of the
page or in other points.
In the same time it works normally in Firefox.
I'm not able to reproduce this bug. However I have noticed it just in these
two last days.
