  Ubuntu 12.04 no sound: audio input/output of UA-101 not available

Bug description:
  After upgrade from 10.04, the UA-101 inputs and outputs seem
  unavailable in standard audio settings while the soundcard has been
  detected and works when directly selected in vlc.

  When using VLC, I get sound when selecting ALSA output and select UA-101 with 
all software conversions.
  The standard Audio settings dialog does not offer the UA-101 as output. 
  It just offers me the build in audio device (That device is on the mainboard 
and I cannot use it, because the output socket got mechanically damaged)
