Title:
LO hangs when opening networked file
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
When opening a networked odt file, it takes ~50sec for the document to
be rendered by writer. When opening a local copy of that file, the
document is rendered instantly. As a reference, opening a networked
pdf with acrobat is instantaneous.
Our company had recently switched from NIS to LDAP name services. I also
upgrade to 12.04 about the same time. Before these changes, LO behaved nicely
and opened networked file without any slowdown.
1) $ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
Release: 12.04
2) $ apt-cache policy libreoffice-writer
libreoffice-writer:
Installed: 1:3.5.4-0ubuntu1.1
Candidate: 1:3.5.4-0ubuntu1.1
Version table:
*** 1:3.5.4-0ubuntu1.1 0

3) Opening a networked document with writer should be just as fast as
a local file.
4) Opening a networked document appears to hang writer for ~50sec
before it is finally rendered.
Please see attachment for an strace of the suspect operations.
