Title:
Cursor becomes invisible though still active

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have seen something similar to this with possible work-arounds but
nothing will fix it for me at the present.

The cursor frequently becomes invisible and I can only track it by
pressing the 'Ctrl' key, so I can keep working but with difficulty.

Previously, when I took a screen-shot the invisible cursor would
become visible in the screen-shot, but this does not now seem to be
  the case.

Also, previously, suspending the system and then bringing it out of
the suspended state would restore the visibility of the cursor, but
now the system will not even suspend and has to be completely rebooted
  to recover.

My current system is ArtistX 0.9, upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04, and it has
worked reliably for a long time. I can't remember when the problem
with the invisible cursor began but it was some months back, not
recent, and well after the upgrade.

This may well be a duplicate of another active bug and if so I would
appreciate someone more knowledgeable than I combining it with that.

I am reporting this in the hope that maybe some of the information
gathered will help in diagnosing just what is causing this problem
which has become a major irritation to me.

  Many thanks,

  Paul
