Title:
HP Photosmart 1315 printing only monochrome after 11.04 upgrade

Status in HP Linux Imaging and Printing:
  New
Status in “hplip” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
My photosmart 1315 started printing in monochrome after upgrading to
11.04. The colors are translated to proper greyscale so something is
  happening before the printer driver.

I installed hplip-3.12.4 which had no effect. HPLIP did not install
properly. In poking around, I used system->admin->printing to call up
the admin page on the printer. I selected "change printer make and
model" and found on the second wizard screen under "change driver"
that the installer had selected the old driver instead of 3.12.4.
This even though I selected the option to de-install the old driver
during the installation and verified same in Package Manager. This
got the printer printing again but it is still printing in monochrome.

The test pages generated in both CUPS admin page and the HPLIP pages
print in monochrome with proper grayscale conversion.

My other printer, a Brother HL5250DN monochrome laser printer
  continues to work properly.

  Here is hp-check -t output

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
  1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling
the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper
dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.

  2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro

supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball

has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.

  3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode

will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Saving output in log file: hp-check.log

  Initializing. Please wait...
