Public bug reported:

Upgrading from 11.04 to 12.04 I had found that the spacebar had stopped
functioning to open a file in nautilus. At first, I had thought this a
bug, as other things had not been working properly either. I then ran
across this bug report that (quite coincidently) "fixed" the "bug" that
the spacebar opens files.

It was not a bug, but it was a feature that I myself and other people
(see http://askubuntu.com/questions/100557/spacebar-not-launching-
application-open-file) have used quite frequently. It would be great to
have this fixed (with an option to disable the feature in the nautilus
preferences)
