nomodeset gives you bad resolution and requires to config Xorg manually... In fact this bug was already fixed in kernel 3.5 and now working perfect to me. Nothing is now required from the user if he runs >=3.5

After Ubuntu completely loaded the external display can be connected without problems. At this time it is detected properly and works perfect.
