Using HDMI launcher and panel disappear

Bug description:
When using Nvidia card through the HDMI connector, the first time I
boot up Unity the Launcher and the Panel are gone. Only the icons in
the desktop are visible. I have to CTRL+ALT+BCKSPACE (Kill X) and
login again to see them. This does not happen if I use the VGA
connector.
Tested with an Nvidia 440 GT with the 295.40 Driver version on Ubuntu
12.04 32 Bit.
