This is especially bad when you are installing a big application that
takes many hours to download and you want to install some small
applications while its downloading. See my screenshot for an example.

  There is no option to install multiple packages at once. I wanted to
  install Xmoto, but too many packages had  installed, so I had to
  download Synaptic.
