Lately, I've been having problems with wired usb mice. They will work in the login screen, but then nothing once the window manager loads. unloading and reloading hid or usbhid will get it working again, but only for a few moments. At all times, the device is listed if I type xsetpointer -l I can replicate the problem with a different make of mouse, but not at all on the desktop. The touchpad works thoughout.
