Title:
Totem can't play video DVDs
Status in Totem Movie Player:
Incomplete
Status in “totem” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10 Gnome Remix 64 bits + Gnome 3 ppa. So I
run Totem 3.6.0. Also installed the Ubuntu restricted package which installs
libdvdcss2 and libdvdread4.
Then, I run the sudo sh /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
script.
Then tried to play some DVDs always same issue :
- Totem starts
- Displays the Title of the DVD in its title bar
-> ...and that's all, stays blocked to a blank screen.
So, I run in terminal and here is the output:

I just want to add that VLC perfectly works with the same DVD on the same
computer.
