Also in 12.04 crashes occasionally. May be different page requested when
happens. May have something to do with nouveau driver for NVIDIA
graphics.

Kern.log may have some extra information, but during its logging
chromium-browser crashed at least once.

  Chromium 15.0.874.106 Ubuntu 11.10
  Set the browser to reopen tabs from last session; use only one tab that has 
gmail.com (expanded).

  When started from terminal, it displays

for mail.google.com failed err=-8181
  chromium-browser: /build/buildd/cairo-1.10.2/src/cairo-surface.c:1287: 
cairo_surface_set_device_offset: Assertion `status == CAIRO_STATUS_SUCCESS' 
failed.
  Aborted

  (the message may vary from time to time.)

  Restarting the browser or reloading the page might also crash the
  browser.
