Public bug reported:

Sometimes, the menu from the network-manager icon in the panel becomes
irresponsive. Clicking on an entry to connect to a detected wireless
network closes the menu but does not seem to begin any actual operation
: the icon keeps its "not connected" look, and no network connection is
established.

When this happens, the menu also has a "More networks" submenu entry,
but hoovering on it causes an empty submenu to appear, although there
are indeed (many) more wireless networks (and the said submenu entry
ordinarily simply does nots appear when this is not the case).

Doing "sudo service network-manager restart" does not improve the
situation (so is this really a bug in network-manager ?). Using the
physical wifi switch also not.

Disconnecting then reconnecting the session does solve the problem,
until next time.

This problems occurs without observable cause, but seemingly more
frequently than before. I do not recall experiencing this problem before
end August 2012.
