Title:
Empathy doesn't open chat windows
Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Empathy does not open text chat windows when I double click on a
contact's name, or when I right click on their name and select "Chat".
This is a major bug that hinderences usage of the program, and I
believe it should be a high priority. I've been experiencing this bug
for the last 5 months. It makes using Empathy completely pointless.
Empathy does not show any feedback in the form of opening a chat
window when I've received a message either.
I believe this bug is linked with other bug reports of not being able
to open the chat window using the Gnome Shell, and only being able to
use the message bubbles.
As others have suggested, I've checked "Open new chats in separate
windows" and unchecked "Display incoming events in the notification
area" and "Enable bubble notifications" in Empathy's preferences.
I'm running Empathy 3.2.0.1 on Oneiric, gnome fallback mode.
