  sound is constantly lost, requiring a reboot or suspend

Bug description:
  When watching movies, the sound is eventually and randomly lost between sound 
clips or movies, and the only way to get sound back is to suspend and wakeup or 
reboot the machine. No error messages show up. This is on 12.04 ubuntu.
