Probably a driver problem. It's a bit late to start investigating this
so I'll close it. Please open a new report if the problem persists in

Title:
network-manager shows no wlan on samsung q35

Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager-gnome

  release: intrepid 64bit

if wlan is started at boot time all connections will be shown and wlan access
is ok
using function key to switch wlan off/on breaks all nm-applet functionality,
no wireless connection is further possible.

but iwconfig shows an enabled wlan device "wlan0"
with hardy 64bit wlan access was no problem!
