Title:
NetworkManager fails to obtain IP address via DHCP on Wi-Fi connection

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
When Network Manager makes an attempt to connect to the wireless
network it succeeds but often fails to obtain an IP address via DHCP.
The IP address is needed in order to use the Internet and access the
entire LAN. Previously when Ubuntu 8.04 was used if Network Manager
failed to pick up an IP address in the first attempt then a second
attempt would usually pick up the address properly. However in Ubuntu
9.10 (uses a newer version of Network Manager) I am forced to restart
the wireless router in order to have an IP address properly picked up
via DHCP which is absolutely ridiculous, so there is a significant
regression with the current version of Ubuntu. Do note that no
settings were changed/added at all for the wireless card, thus
wireless auto network configuration is used (zero conf networking).
