The important thing here is how the routing table looks like. Could you
post the result of "route -n", possibly mask out IP addresses if you
want.

The wired connection should be prioritized there so that the traffic is
actually go through your wired connection. It is possibly useful to have
wifi up, so that it quickly can replace the wired connection if you
disconnect the wire.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager-gnome

  Intrepid keeps trying to login to my wifi with password proction while
  connected with wire. When I'm connect with wire, no attempts should be
  made to connect to any wifi at all.
