Title:
  5 second delay between print jobs

Status in “cups” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “cups” package in Debian:
  Unknown

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: cups

  In Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04 (CUPS 1.3 and 1.4) when sending multiple
  print jobs there is a 5 second delay due to CUPS waiting for
  confirmation that the previous job was completed. This is fine but
  the documentation says that when using the AppSocket (JetDirect)
  protocol this behaviour can be disabled by using the 'waiteof' option
  appended to the device URI:

  $ lpadmin -p printername -u allow:all -E -v
  socket://192.168.0.1:9100?waiteof=false

  This backchannel wait time is supposed to be removed from CUPS version
  1.4.4 (Ubuntu 10.10). Would it be possible to backport this change to
  9.10 and 10.04?
