I have a MSI laptop but I did not have this bug on ubuntu 12.04. This bug
appears even when trying ubuntu without installing and it is most visible on
ambiance theme. It also appears when positioning the mouse cursor on volume
apllet and changing volume by scrolling and also by moving over and outside the
volume status bar when still present.
I observed that sometimes there is a shadow effect of of the volume status bar
applet witch tends to step into the pannel area.
All this happen with brightness slider as well
