Under All Settings > Sound > Speakers > Mode

Analog Surround 4.0 Output is a selectable option, but "Analog Stereo
Output" is selected.

Pulse Audio too, allows me to select surround, and it seems to work
about the same, but either way, sound is only coming through my right
speaker; that's the issue.

Again, I didn't have this issue in Ubuntu 12.04, but do now in 12.10.

  After upgrading from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 12.10, my laptop's sound
  will only come from its right speaker (despite that the balance is
  centered).
