This seems to have actually been a problem with xemacs21, which was failing to install for some reason, which prevented emacsen-common from configuring. I was able to fix this by purging xemacs21 and emcasen- common, then reinstalling emacsen-common BEFORE xemacs21. In order:
1) aptitude purge xemacs21 2) aptitude purge emacsen-common 3) aptitude install emacsen-common 4) aptitude install xemacs21 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to emacsen-common in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1074688 Title: emacsen failed to install on upgrade to Kubuntu 12.10 Status in “emacsen-common” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “ubuntu-release-upgrader” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Upgrading from Kubuntu 12.04 to 12.10.
