Mel C, thanks for reporting this, but this is deliberate. The only reason we say "Wired connection" for those is that they don't have more specific names. Wi-fi connections do, so we use them.
I've updated the networking design spec to make this explicit. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Networking?action=diff&rev2=85&rev1=84> ** Changed in: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Matthew Paul Thomas (mpt) ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager-applet in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1059325 Title: ubuntu notification OSD shows SSID instead of connection name Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts: Invalid Status in Notify OSD: Invalid Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Ubuntu notification OSD shows connection name for a wired network as per in the network manager setting. but in wireless netwotk ubuntu notification shows SSID name instead of connection name.
