Thank you for your bug report, we don't do major version upgrades on
stable serie though, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates
for the stable update rules, we could backport selected fixes if needed
but you would need to describe specific issues. You might also want to
consider using the new LTS if you need more recent softwares

Title:
Upgrade to IBus 1.3.9 on 10.04

Status in “ibus” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in “ibus” source package in Lucid:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
Though 10.04 is old, it is an LTS and still interests people who want to stay
with GNOME 2.
The IBus version included in Lucid's repository is too outdated and buggy.
Everyone really need to use IBus on Lucid has to install the following PPA:
  https://launchpad.net/~shawn-p-huang/+archive/ppa
So, why don't we make it official?

IBus 1.3.9 is an old stable version.
Due to GLib incompatibility we cannot have IBus 1.3.99+.
So 1.3.9 is already the newest version we can have on Lucid.
