IMPORTANT: This is not a real bug. I didn't take into account the limitation with FAT32 (maximum of 4GB per file).
The flash pens in question were recent and not supposed to be FAT. Retested in NTFS: 5,9GB copied with no problem. Nevertheless, the ERROR MESSAGES should have been more clear (stating the limitations of the format, especially since it is a Ubuntu default format); the formatting utility itself could warn unadvised users of those limitations on the dialog box). This report was also influenced by the present difficulties of Quantal 12.10 with formatting flash pens and Disks. Gnome Utility Disks is useless in 12.10. I've had to use Windows to clean them and format for testing. 12.10 is crippled in that area right now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1076194 Title: Copying large file into flash pen: Error while copying Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Insistent error when copying large files into large capacity flash pens (8GB/16GB/32GB); process is interrupted half-way; error messages: Error while copying "[file name]".
